KUALA LUMPUR( 0 )

Tahniah Sabahawks!!!

Justin Ganai: Gunning for glory

KOTA KINABALU: Justin Ganai reminds his players not to take winless Kuala Lumpur lightly when they meet in a Super League tie at 8:15pm at the Likas Stadium tonight.

He insisted that there is no room to underestimate any team, Kuala Lumpur included, at a time when they are also hungry for victory. The Sabah Head Coach said on paper, the expectations are high of them notching their second win of the season, but on the other hand, football is a game that anything can happen.
“We need to play with more patience in searching for the victory. In our previous games, we seemed to rush things a little too much, and at the end we put ourselves under pressure and failed to achieve our goals.
“I hope tomorrow (tonight), the players will be patient enough in our quest to win the tie. They must stick to the game plan and do it as a team. They must help each other and if they can do that, I’m optimistic of getting a positive result,” Justin said, when met at the Likas Stadium yesterday.
“Against Kelantan, we played well and fought hard, and tomorrow, I expect them to do the same and fight their hearts out until the final whistle.

“We just cannot afford to take them lightly because in football, anything can happen. So we have to be ready and try to play our best game,” said Justin.
Justin also hinted on making a tactical change after losing his midfielder Brendan Gan to suspension. The Aussie signing was given the marching orders for second yellow card offence in the two-all draw against Kedah last week, and will serve his one-match automatic suspension in tonight’s game.

While reluctant to reveal his plan, Justin said, he has several options to play his cards and has two or three players, who could fill in the vacuum left by Gan. But the good news for Justin is Gan’s countryman Michael Baird will be available for options and looks set to make it back into the first team after serving his one-match suspension. The striker, who has been one of the most consistent among his teammates, will spearhead the attack with Bobby Gonzales his likely partner, unless Justin has a change of heart and opts for Leopold Alfonso Otong.

Justin might give Leopold the chance to start with Michael after seeing the youngster hitting the goalpost in the draw with Kelantan after coming in late on while against Kedah, he saw his effort hit the crossbar.

Kuala Lumpur is the only side in the 14-team league that has yet to win their matches. Their only point was from the one-all draw against Selangor PKNS and they lost the rest of their remaining six battles. The disastrous run saw Kuala Lumpur, who are also known as the Hawks, rooted at the bottom of the standings.

Penyerang Sabahawks perlu tajamkan penyudah

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahawks need to sharpen their claws if they harbour any hope to go places in the ongoing Super League.

This is a fact admitted by team manager Hj Shahriman Abdullah, who concurred that the team certainly needs to do some polishing work in their finishing.

“I have spoken to our head coach (Justin Ganai) and I have asked him to look into our finishing. I have asked him to practice more on shooting,” said Shahriman when contacted yesterday.

After six games into the season, Sabah merely managed to score in two out of the six games they have played.

They scored twice in the 2-1 win over Sarawak where Australian signings Michael Baird and Bobby Gonzales netted once each.

The other match was the two-all draw against Selangor PKNS where they fought their way back from 0-2 down before Michael and Shahrudin Yakup helped their side to nick a point from the away clash by scoring a goal each late in the game.

The goal average ratio may not be convincing, but fortunately for Sabah, it is still early in the season, and they still have time to change things around.

On Wednesday, Sabah failed to find the net again after holding mighty Kelantan to a stalemate in Likas.
They managed to create numerous chances to win the game with the best one came in injury time. Substitute Leopold Alfonso Otong must be cursing his luck as his thunderous shot from about 20 metres out hit the goalpost before it went out.

“I think it was one of our best games so far. Overall, the players have done quite well. Unfortunately, we were facing the number one goalkeeper (Khairul Fahmi Che Mat) in the country, and if not, I think we could have put one behind at the back of their net,” said Shahriman.

Shahriman said he was happy to see that the team is getting better with each game.

“We have shown good progress from game to game. And I hope the players maintain this and try their best to improve as a team or individuals.

“I’m also thankful to all the fans for the support they have given to the team. The number increases with each game,” said Shahriman, while expressing his surprise that only about 8,000 tickets were sold for the game against Kelantan.

“I estimated that more than 10,000 fans turned up for the match and I wonder how the rest of them managed to get in,” he quipped.

Meanwhile, Justin said that he was satisfied with the point.
“Although we managed to hold them to a scoreless draw, and created goal-scoring chances, I believe that the players have done the best they could, and I must congratulate them for that,” said Justin.
“I hope that in our upcoming games, we will be able to score goals and get the maximum points as needed,” he added.

Asked on the penalty claim, Justin refused to comment much, apart from saying that maybe in the eyes of the match official it was not a penalty, but admitted that contact was made.

Michael Baird for their away tie to Kedah on Saturday.
The Aussie was left behind when the team left for Alor Star yesterday after picking up his third yellow card of the season in the Kelantan game, which means a one-match automatic suspension.

His services will certainly be missed, as he is one of the most consistent lot among his teammates with his tireless runs.
After the tie against Kedah, Sabah take on Kuala Lumpur at home on Tuesday.

Sabah vs Kelantan Liga Super Malaysia 2012

Keputusan penuh Sabahawks menentang Kelantan bagi Liga Super 2012 | Keputusan penuh Sabah vs Kelantan 8 Feb 2012

SABAH ( 0 )
 KELANTAN ( 0 )

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah and Kelantan shared the spoils after ending their Super League tie in a stalemate draw at the Likas Stadium last night. The home side was denied the victory by the goalpost at the dead when Leopold Alfonso Otong’s powerful attempt from about 20 metres hit the right side of the post. But it was a game that could have gone either way as they managed to create enough chances to take the game into their own hands only to find out that they had to settle for a point.

The first half was an exciting affair with lots of action, and it was the visitors to who had the first chance in the game when national striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha saw his 12th minute close range attempt hit the side netting after he found space inside the box with Sabah custodian Syed Adney Syed Hussien already beaten. Then a minute later, Sabah had their first try through flanker Shahrudin Yakup, who unleashed a long range attempt that went straight into the keeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat’s arms. In the 20th minute, it was Sharudin again who tested Khairul for the second time. This time, his waist-high attempt was blocked by the national custodian.
At the half hour mark, Kelantan could have taken the lead, but fortunately for Sabah, Mohamed Ghadar’s attempt was blocked by Adney. With five minutes remaining into the half time break, Ghadar squandered another opportunity as his shot went inches wide. But it did not end there as Sabah was presented with a golden opportunity to take the lead. Alto Linus sent a perfect cross that found Bobby Gonzales at the far post, but unfortunately his weak attempt went wide.

After the break, it was the same scenario and Sabah had at least one genuine penalty claim when Bobby Gonzales was brought down inside the box in the 67th minute only to find the match official waving play on. In the 59th minute, Michael Baird saw his 25metre try palmed away by the steady Fahmi. And in the closing seconds of the game, Leopold, who came in for Bobby Gonzales earlier on, was presented with the chance to give over 10,000 home fans something to cheer for, only to find his attempt hit the goalpost.

With the draw, Sabah moved up one rung to 10th placing in the 14-team standings on six points from one win, three draws and two defeats.

Brendan Gan, Where's the best of you?

Kali ini, Sabahawkians mau cerita sedikit pasal kita punya awang import, Brendan Gan. Sebelum itu, sedikit info tentang beliau:

Tarikh Lahir: 3 Jun 1988 (23 yrs)
Tempat Lahir: Sutherland Shire, Australia
Tinggi: 1.78m
Posisi: Attacking Midfield
Kelab Terdahulu: Sutherland Shark (7 gol dlm 23 game), Sydney FC (5 gol dlm 43 game), Bonnyrigg White Eagles ( 2 gol dlm 9 game)
Kelab Sekarang: SABAH FA

Apapun, Liga Super baru 5 game, so, masih awal lagi untuk menilai kemampuan beliau. Mungkin beliau masih belum settle down lagi dengan corak permainan Liga Super. Harap-harap lepas ni, sedikit demi sedikit Brendan boleh adapt terutama dengan stail permainan pasukan Sabahawks. Buli ba kau Brendan!!! Sabah Tatapssss!!!!

Sabahawkians:
Mau tingu gandingan Brendan dengan Zainizam. Baru la macam di KK!!

Malaysia Super League 2012: PKNS vs Sabah

Keputusan perlawanan Liga Super Malaysia 27 Januari 2012.
PKNS (2) VS (2) SABAH

Kadir sekaligus menerjah jaring .

PKNS FC semakin selesa di hadapan selepas tujuh minit permainan bersambung apabila Nicoise berjaya menggelecek Mohd Reithaudin Awang Emran sebelum melepaskan rembatan kencang menewaskan Azizon buat kali kedua.
